SHRINEs participated to the “Protect and Secure Worship: Protecting and Securing our Religious Heritage through Multisectoral Collaboration” conference in Nicosia, Cyprus

Posted on Maggio 4, 2023

Networking efforts are already beginning for project SHRINEs!

PROSECUW and PROTECTOR organized “Protect and Secure Worship: Protecting and Securing our Religious Heritage through Multisectoral Collaboration”, a sector-specific conference in Nicosia, Cyprus, 25th April 2023. The event was an excellent chance for SHRINEs representatives to present the project to a wider audience and start its networking activities.

The conference brought together public authorities, security agents, religious leaders, decision makers and local communities, with the specific aim to enhance the protection of places of worship in European countries. As this is a crucial topic for public security, the conference was attended by more than 150 participants in presence and more than 450 participants online, with the contribution of 30 experts, 10 countries and 15 organisations.

Other relevant initiatives such as SHIELD, PRoSPeReS, PARTES, Spirit, Soar and PROTECTOR were present, supporting the creation of fruitful synergies between different projects.

SHRINEs Project representative Carlotta Carbone (Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore-Transcrime) participated and presented SHRINEs and its European network for safety and security management in places of worship during one of the panels, and also had the opportunity to further promote the project in the booth promo area. Furthermore, the conference was attended by partners in the SHRINEs project from the University of Lodz (M. Podogrocki and R. Batkowski), who in the course of their speeches related to PROSPERES also mentioned the great potential of our project.
SHRINEs’s innovative approach to the creation of a multidisciplinary Network that promotes dialogue, awareness and exchange of know-how attracted many interested stakeholders.

We are looking forward to future collaborations and the upcoming project events!
